Pokémon TCG Pocket Celebrates 40 Billion Cards With Free Promo Card

The game Pokémon TCG Pocket has reached an impressive milestone: 40 billion cards acquired by players around the world. To celebrate the achievement, the developers have launched a special promotion, offering a free promotional Pokédex card.

The card distribution has already begun and will continue until April 30, 2025. To redeem it, simply access the game and tap on the icon Gifts (Gifts), located in the upper right corner of the screen.

The growth of Pokémon TCG Pocket

Since its launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket has been winning over more and more players, consolidating itself as a simplified and accessible version of the traditional Pokémon Trading Card Game. Unlike the physical game, Pocket allows you to collect and battle dynamically, without the need for complex rules.

The staggering 40 billion cards acquired indicates the game's growing popularity. While it was not detailed how these cards were obtained, it is believed that the majority of these cards come from opening booster packs, the game's primary method of acquisition.

How card distribution works in the game

In Pokémon TCG Pocket, free players receive two daily booster packs, each containing five cards. Premium subscribers get an extra pack per day and can purchase more packs with Poké Gold, in-game currency purchased with real money.

Additionally, the game allows you to craft cards using Pack Points, but the amount needed to create even common cards is high. This supports the hypothesis that most of the 40 billion cards came from pack openings rather than direct crafting.

The Pokédex card and its value to players

The promotional card offered for this celebration is not considered essential for battles nor highly sought after by collectors. However, the special art has a difference: it features the three starter Pokémon from the first generation – Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur – alongside the iconic Pikachu.

The ability to trade cards has not yet been implemented in the game, but this is expected to change in the future. If it does, events like this could become valuable opportunities for players to strategically expand their collections.

New Battle Event is Available

In addition to the distribution of the Pokédex card, Pokémon TCG Pocket has launched a new battle event, which will run until January 27, 2025. Players will be able to compete in sequential challenges to earn participation, bronze, silver, and gold badges.

With constant promotions and dynamic events, Pokémon TCG Pocket continues to expand its player base and consolidate itself as one of the main ways to experience the Pokémon universe in the digital card game format.
